In August and September 2006, I traveled to New Orleans, LA to photograph and document the post-Katrina reconstruction. Specifically, my intent was to create portraits of the people rebuilding the city. At the time, thousands of individuals had traveled through South and Central America, hopped the border in Texas, and were working as day laborers in the city.
While waiting for work, day laborers invented and sang corridos, or “story-songs.” I am grateful to have recorded one such corrido.
